I choose and keep one cleaning chemical or tool with me for the evening. If I choose a feather duster, or a high low duster, it takes just a few minutes to flit through my rooms. I can also easily use the item in the rooms that I go into, as I randomly need to go into them. I’m tired, so no pressure.
If I choose a harder cleaning item, like barkeeper’s friend, I’m only cleaning the tub basin and maybe the sink if I’m feeling like a superhero. Then I’m done.

We have a checklist that myself and my husband use when we clean. He has his designated rooms and I have mine. When we are finished we check the others work to make sure everything was cleaned up to standard. This normally turns into an argument, so we always have a couple drinks ready for when we get back home lol.

Here’s what helps most when it comes to having a clean home.
- Wipe dust often
- Change air filters regularly.
- Turn sprinklers away from glass
- Vacuum tile instead of sweeping
- Mop the hard floors a couple of times per month
- Use a clean string mop (like janitors use) for best results.
- Flat-top stoves cleaning up fairly well with a razor blade scraper, Dawn powerscrub, Ajax, and a gentle scrub pad
- Reach around and clean the floor behind your toilet. It gets gross back there
Hire a cleaning service to do deep cleaning twice a year including cleaning out the fridge and the inside of the oven.
